We borrowed the All-New Lexus RX 500h from Lexus Milton Keynes, the most powerful model in the range. Continue reading to hear about our experience behind the wheel.
Lexus first introduced ground-breaking electrified technology back in 2005 and with each generation since, Lexus have improved the benefits of the hybrid technology. These benefits are primarily to reduce emissions and fuel consumption, and whilst this remains a focus of the All-New RX 500h, the drivetrain is designed to deliver an exciting driving experience.
The All-New Fifth Generation Lexus RX was introduced at the start of 2023. For the first time the All-New RX is available with a range of hybrid options including the All-New RX 350h Self-Charging Hybrid, All-New RX 450h Plug-in Hybrid and the All-New RX 500h Turbo Hybrid. Each option brings with it a range of benefits, but we were most keen to get behind the wheel of the performance model, the All-New RX 500h.

Walking up to the All-New RX 500h, the confidence and performance potential of the car is clear and the excitement only continues as you step inside.
Powering up the All-New RX is accompanied by the thrilling sound of the 3.0 litre V6 engine which combined with the power of the hybrid system produces 366bhp and 550Nm torque to accelerate the All-New RX 500h from 0-62mph in just 6.2 seconds. The benefit of the Self-Charging Hybrid system means the All-New RX 500h can still achieve up to 35.3 MPG despite the performance.
The All-New RX 500h provides confidence the moment you sit behind the wheel due to the DIRECT4 all-wheel drive technology which constantly adapts the torque sent to the front and rear wheels to provide optimum grip, stability, and performance. This translates to a secure driving feel which allows you to safely explore the full capability of the drivetrain. The All-New RX 500h also receives a brake upgrade over other variants to 400mm ventilated front discs with powerful six piston brake callipers so you can be sure the All-New RX 500h stops as well as it accelerates.
The All-New RX 500h drives like a much smaller car and provides a rewarding driving experience which encourages you to enjoy driving again. Technology such as the Adaptive Variable Suspension and Dynamic Rear Steer which automatically adjusts the angle of the rear wheels according to the car’s speed and direction to improve the nimble feeling and stability at higher speeds.
The All-New RX comes with a range of driving modes which allow you to customise the driving experience further. Drive Mode Select features four modes: Normal, Eco, Sport S and Sport S+. In Normal mode, the All-New RX offers the optimum mix of performance, comfort, and efficiency. Eco mode maximises fuel efficiency by managing engine output. Sport S mode sharpens the steering, throttle response and suspension. Whilst Sport S + mode unlocks the full potential of the All-New RX 500h by optimising the steering, rear wheel steering, adaptive suspension and throttle response.

Outside, F SPORT trim adds 21” F-Sport Alloy Wheels, Black brake calipers and F SPORT Exterior Styling which includes: Gloss Black details, F SPORT Performance bumpers, spoiler and F SPORT badges.
Inside, F-Sport trim adds F SPORT Exclusive Front Seats with F SPORT embossing on the head rests, aluminum trims and F SPORT Performance stainless steel scuff plates.

The All-New RX offers excellent practicality with five seats which provide space for five adults to travel comfortably. The interior has a spacious feel, and there are big door pockets, multiple cupholders and large storage cubbies.
The boot provides 461 litres of capacity with underfloor storage, hooks, power points and LED illumination. The boot floor is also flush with the bumper which allows you to easily load and unload heavy items. The rear seats split 40/20/40 and can be dropped using buttons in the boot to increase the load area, plus the rear seat backs can be adjusted to offer more comfort or more boot space as required.
