Clearly with the shocking statistics around incidents caused by defective tyres and as the only part of the car making physical contact with the road, tyre safety is really important. It is through the tyres that your car accelerates, grips, turns, slows and in an emergency brings the car to a complete stop.
However, what many people don’t realise is that despite the warmer weather in June, July and August, these are the months in which a tyre related incident is most likely to happen. Plus, with 72% of Brits going on a staycation this year, our vehicles are likely to get a lot more use this summer.
Therefore, it is important to regularly check the condition of your tyres and especially before a long journey or trip away.

There are a range of tyres available for your Lexus including ‘All Season’, ‘Runflat’, ‘Winter’ and ‘Standard’ tyres. No matter which type of tyre your Lexus has, you can carry out the same safety checks, using ACT:
Air Pressure: use an accurate tyre pressure gauge to check the pressure of the air in your tyres against the recommended PSI. The recommended PSI can be found on either the tyre wall, the inside of the door pillar or in your vehicle’s handbook.
Condition: any damage to your tyres such as lumps, cuts or cracks can indicate a serious issue and your tyres may need replacing urgently.
Tread Depth: check the depth of the tread on your tyres using an accurate gauge to ensure it is at least 1.6mm. Another way to test the depth of the tread is to use a 20p coin – if the outer band is hidden, your tyres should be safe and legal.
