Both hybrid models benefit from 5th generation hybrid technology, delivering power, efficiency and low emissions. The main difference between the models is how the lithium-ion battery charging works. New Toyota C-HR Self-Charging Hybrid charges the battery whilst you drive around and does not need to be charged by plugging in. Whereas the plug-in version has a much larger battery to cover great distances on EV only power, it can self-charge on the move, but to get the most out of the EV range it does need to be plugged in. Both models can run on a combination of EV and petrol power depending on the circumstances.
New Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid provides you with EV driving for up to 41 miles* and you can count on convenient charging, either whilst you’re at home with a 3-pin plug or wall box, or when you’re out and about with a public wall box or fuel station.
New Toyota C-HR features switchable driving modes, allowing you to choose from Normal, Eco or Power to suit your style. Available as either 1.8 or 2.0-litre self-charging hybrid or a 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid, you have a choice of which powertrain works for you.

When you first step foot inside the New Toyota C-HR, you will notice the dashboard is tilted towards your direction for driver convenience. Everything about New Toyota C-HR is created to suit the driver and make the driving experience smooth and enjoyable. Sitting in the front sports seat, you are faced with the 12.3” (7” in the Icon model) Digital Combimeter ready to choose your driving mode. Once your driving comforts are set, you are ready to start the smooth drive. Pick up speed from 0-62 mph in 8.1 seconds in the self-charging hybrid and 7.2 seconds in the plug-in hybrid. New Toyota C-HR is front wheel drive only, so all the engine power is focused to the front of the vehicle. You will also notice how quiet the drive is.

As New Toyota C-HR Self-Charging Hybrid charges the battery whilst you drive, you don’t need to worry about plugging it in to charge, you just fill it up with fuel to keep it moving as you would with an ICE car.
When it comes to charging New Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid, there are a couple of options to choose from. Charging at home you can use a domestic power supply (3-pin plug) which will fully charge the New Toyota C-HR in 6.5 hours** making it an ideal option if you plan on charging overnight. For a faster charging solution, it is worth investing in a wall box and dedicated charger cable as this reduces the charging time to 2.5 hours**. The plug-in also charges as you move and once the battery is depleted the car operates as a normal self-charging hybrid to continue delivering exceptional fuel economy.
