We are thrilled to secure a £1,800 grant for Northampton Hope Centre, a charity that supports people experiencing homelessness and issues related to hardship, including addiction, mental health and well-being.
Northampton Hope Centre provide crisis support at their homeless centre with items such as warm clothing, blankets and sleeping bags. This is open 6 days a week, offering breakfast, hot drinks and a hot meal. As well as attending to crisis and practical needs, Northampton Hope Centre’s holistic approach focuses on helping people to help themselves and they run workshops, community projects and weekly Food Clubs that provide support for as long as needed. These services form part of a prevention strategy, which helps thousands of people in the wider community.
Northampton Hope Centre have roughly 12,000 centre visits a year and last year they served 35,000 meals to those in need.
The funding secured by our Toyota Northampton Centre will be used towards the Hope Centre’s Garden Project. This will be a community growing space located near the charity’s day centre in Northampton. The garden provides a safe, welcoming environment where service users can engage in therapeutic gardening, develop new skills and grow fresh produce used in the Hope Centre’s kitchen and food clubs. Many of those involved have experienced trauma, addiction or mental health difficulties and the garden offers a calming space for recovery and connection.
